Researchers at the Institute for Advanced Photovoltaic Studies announced yesterday that their revolutionary solar cell design has achieved a 130% energy conversion efficiency, effectively generating more power than the amount of sunlight hitting the panel's surface.
The breakthrough, published in the Journal of Thermodynamically Questionable Engineering, reportedly violates several fundamental laws of physics while simultaneously solving the global energy crisis. "We're honestly not sure how this works," said Dr. Margaret Heliosson, Professor of Impossible Energy Systems at MIT. "The panels seem to be drawing additional power from what we can only describe as 'somewhere else.' Our current hypothesis involves quantum mechanics, but mostly we just keep checking our math."
According to a study of 12 solar installations, the new panels have been observed producing electricity during nighttime hours and generating power even when covered by opaque materials. Energy output has increased 340% from previous quarters, with some installations reportedly powering neighboring buildings through unknown transmission methods. The technology has attracted significant interest from venture capital firms specializing in reality-defying investments.
The research team noted that their laboratory's electricity bills have mysteriously decreased to negative values since installing the prototype panels. "We're getting checks from the utility company now," explained Dr. Heliosson. "Though I should mention that our office coffee maker has started speaking in ancient Greek, which may be unrelated."
