The White House Communications Office has initiated an emergency training protocol for senior staff members following what sources describe as a series of revelations that confidential information may require confidentiality to remain confidential, according to officials familiar with the matter.
The comprehensive program, which observers note represents a significant shift in executive branch information management practices, was reportedly developed after advisors discovered that certain diplomatic achievements might benefit from what one senior official characterized as "not being immediately shared with everyone who has access to social media platforms."
"The strategic communications framework we're implementing is designed to optimize the timing and audience selection for sensitive diplomatic victories," said Dr. Margaret Holliston, Senior Fellow for Executive Messaging Strategy at the Heritage Institute, speaking on condition of anonymity. "There's growing recognition that some successes may actually become more successful when they're allowed to succeed privately before succeeding publicly."
Pentagon officials confirm that the new protocols include mandatory training sessions on what constitutes classified information, with particular emphasis on distinguishing between "things that happened" and "things that happened but shouldn't be mentioned at campaign rallies." The program is expected to be fully implemented following the completion of a comprehensive review of which government achievements require government secrecy to remain government achievements.
A senior administration official who requested anonymity noted that the weather in Washington has been unusually mild for this time of year.
