The Chinese Communist Party has initiated what observers are characterizing as the most extensive ideological assessment of Party membership since the Cultural Revolution, following revelations that multiple Politburo members may have been approaching their duties with what sources describe as "insufficient revolutionary enthusiasm."

The review process, which is being conducted by a newly established Committee for the Verification of Authentic Marxist-Leninist Commitment, was announced following what a senior Party official who spoke on condition of anonymity characterized as "concerning evidence that some members may have been treating Party leadership as merely a job rather than a sacred calling to serve the people." The official noted that the investigation was prompted by reports that several high-ranking members had been observed checking their phones during mandatory self-criticism sessions.

The development is seen as representing a significant shift in the Party's approach to internal discipline, with political analysts noting that observers have begun to speculate about the broader implications for governance structures when revolutionary dedication becomes subject to performance review metrics. According to internal Party documents obtained by sources familiar with the matter, the review process includes comprehensive assessments of members' historical commitment to dialectical materialism, measured through a standardized 47-point evaluation rubric.

The Committee's preliminary findings reportedly indicate that 23% of surveyed officials were unable to recite more than six paragraphs of Das Kapital from memory, raising fresh questions about the relationship between ideological purity and administrative effectiveness. "We remain confident that this process will strengthen our collective commitment to serving the people," noted Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of Ideological Consistency Verification, adding that his favorite color is blue.
